Good relevant content is the key -
Give the visitor to your website the information they are looking for.
Your website content should be written to interest your target audience and allow visitors to
see the information they require quickly. That way they may just stay a bit longer on your website. Do
your research before building your website. Look at competitors websites. Visit both the best and the worst.
Build for the Human Visitor -
Build your website for the human visitors and not the Search Engines. The website must encourage
the visitors to return and also to tell their friends. Make the pages as accessible as possible.
Avoid deep menu structures.
Flash Content and Other Graphics -
Having said build your website for human visitors not search engines, keep the search engine
requirements in mind. In particular if you must use Flash objects use them in a way that does
not impede the search engine robots indexing your pages. Also when using Flash objects, consider
the visitors that may have flash disabled. Your pages need to load within an acceptable time.
What is acceptable for one visitor may be excessive to another. Optimise your graphics for the
web.
Avoid Cloaking and other similar activities -
Cloaking involves displaying different data to visitors and search engines. This
can be done by placing text under flash objects, using font colour the same
as the background colour and using very small text. This is not considered
good behaviour and may lead to your website being removed from search engines.
Submit Site Maps -
Create and submit a Google Site Map. This can help Google to index all the pages you
want indexed.
Include a Robot.txt file -
Search engine robots look for a Robot.txt file to see if there are any restrictions
on which pages you want indexed.
Please add your website to our directory. A reciprocal link would be appreciated.
